FUHRMANN Engineering Inc. (FEI) provided HVAC design services for a new Auditorium addition for Murphysboro High School in Murphysboro, Illinois.
The central feature of this project is the addition of a new 700+ seat Auditorium. Heating and cooling in the Auditorium is being provided by a new Rooftop Heat Pump Unit, which includes a total energy wheel and demand controlled ventilation to optimize energy savings, as well as hot gas reheat to help ensure humidity control. Other aspects of this project include a new choir room, renovated administrative offices, and new restrooms, all of which are served by new heat pump rooftop equipment.
FEI’s project responsibilities included a complete HVAC design, which utilized AutoDesk Revit. Since the A/E design team spanned several different physical offices around the state, we utilized AutoDesk’s BIM360 with Collaboration for Revit. This cloud based service allowed us to see the progress of others design team members in real time, as if we were all working in the same office.
Fager-McGee Construction was awarded the construction contract at just under $7 million.
